Out now – Holy Water in Alt Hist issue 1

Issue 1 of Alt Hist is out now, including my story Holy Water.

Holy Water is set in the middle ages, and draws on several pieces of local Cheshire mythology. A lord who tried to execute a statue. The story of a river too holy to let anyone drown. And the more historically real incident of King Edgar’s coronation trip, rowed in splendour by lesser kings. All scrambled together and re-imagined, as folk tales should be, and made into a story of duty, futility and damp sheep.

Alt Hist is a new magazine full of history and historical fantasy. This issue has street riots, Jack the Ripper’s London, and a different history of the USA. It’s the sort of cool thing that should be encouraged, and like all small press magazines, it needs your support. So go get your copy now, because this isn’t just history, this is Alt History.
